DESCRIPTION:Estimadas y estimados estudiantes:\n\nLes invitamos a particip
Lugar: Sal
 a B-15 Inscripción: https://indico.ing.puc.cl/event/341/registrations/295
/ La actividad incluye colación.\n\nDurante la sesión\, los profesores i
nvitados presentarán sus líneas de investigación y compartirán oportun
idades y experiencias vinculadas al desarrollo de tecnologías avanzadas e
 n electrónica de potencia.\n\nSebastian Neira\, University of Edinburgh\,
UK.\n\n"Scaling Power Electronics to the MW Range: The Role of SiC and Ga
N Technologies"\n\nDr. Sebastian Neira is a Lecturer in Electrical Machine
s and Drives at The University of Edinburgh. He received a dual PhD in Eng
ineering from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile and the University
of Edinburgh\, with a thesis titled "Design of Power Converters with Embed
ded Energy Storage for Hybrid DC-AC Applications". His research expertise
lies within the power electronics field with extensive practical experienc
e in developing novel power converter topologies and control systems with
direct use in electrical machine drives\, renewable energy applications an
d energy storage systems. A core component of his work is the experimental
validation of power conversion systems\, with experience testing up to me
gawatt-scale power ratings. Since 2019\, he has actively participated in c
ollaborative research projects\, resulting in the publication of 1 patent
 application and 30 peer-reviewed articles.\n\nRodrigo Cuzmar\, University
of New South Wales\, Australia. \n\n"Model Predictive Control Applied to
Modular Multilevel Converters"\n\nDr. Rodrigo Cuzmar is an Associate Lectu
rer and engineering researcher at UNSW Sydney specializing in power electr
onics and predictive control systems. He holds a Ph.D. from the University
of Technology Sydney (UTS) and degrees from Pontificia Universidad Catól
ica de Chile\, balancing academic teaching with advanced research in energ
y conversion technologies. His specific research focuses on advanced model
-predictive-control (MPC) strategies for modular multilevel matrix convert
ers\, aiming to optimize power grid integration and renewable energy syste
 ms.\n\nAtentos saludos\n\n \n\nJavier Pereda\n\nAssociate Professor\n\nDe
 partment of Electrical Engineering\n\nhttps://indico.ing.puc.cl/event/341/
